mint
I'd welcome recommendations of places to visit this weekend in the Dordogne area.I'd especially love to visit a place that isn't normally open to the public.Any suggestions, SVP? pachapapa
This weekend Saturday & Sunday is the 3rd weekend in September and is accordingly the Journées Européens du Patrimoine. The weekend offers thousands of opportunities to visit interesting venues, often only open exclusively on this weekend. The Culture Ministry coordinates the publicité but your mairie or sub-prefecture will have a detailed programme available.Back soon with a link. pachapapa
Selecting out of the Aquitaine Region the Dordogne Department under "ouverture exceptionelle" there are 69 venues.http://www.journeesdupatrimoine.culture.fr/programme/recherche-thematique?rd=7224&commune=&monument=&theme=0&ty=0&ex=1&valider=Valider&insee=0&g=2The following link is for the Aquitaine Region with a drop down menu for the Départments; the search can be filtered with Radio Buttons on the right. I like the gratuit one for starters[;-)]http://www.journeesdupatrimoine.culture.fr/programme/recherche-thematique?g=1&rd=7224&commune=&ty=0&theme=0&ex=1&pr=0&ag=0&monument=&hv=0&hi=0&hm=0&ha=0&ls=0&at=0&ci=0&vi=0&cf=0&xp=0&pj=0&lec=0&spec=0&foui=0&insee=0In fact the drop down menu can be used to search by Region or Départment for the whole of France.Looks like an early start on Saturday. mint
Pictures look fabulous, Pacha, but I have now chosen what I want to do and where I'm going to be.BTW, I saw a whole lot of veteran cars this lunchtime when I was driving home but they weren't heading towards Sarlat. Maybe there are other veteran car rallies planned nearby.
