cooperlola
Due to changes in the rules, it's now no longer possible for me to bet with the Tote in France (no betting allowed on line now unless the company has a French base.)Does anybody have an online account with the PMU and if so, can you check to see if they're making a book for Cheltenham? I don't seem to be able to find this out until I've registered which I don't want to do on spec' as it's the only meeting I ever bet on each year. cooperlola
Clearly you're all whiter than white or too embarassed to own up to the fact that you gamble!I finally gave in and signed up with the minimum. The answer to my question, in case it's of interest to anybody is that yes, they do, but not on all races and sadly the four they do are not all telivised on C4. Shame. Whatever, at this rate, I may not even get on as there's so much admin' to go through first. Typical France, really![:)]

Hope that you were able to get sorted. For me, I just do a pretend bet and see what would have happened. Score so far = sfa!!A rather eventful day's racing today eh? That was a below-par Champion Chase wasn't it and not just because of the drama.
cooperlola
I opened a PMU account yesterday and bet on 3 races. Overturn paid up so I'm OK so far.Today I didn't watch until late (recorded) as I had a house full of builders trying to sort my kitchen. Not racing's finest week so far. Gardian
I just hope that KS comes back unscathed and win or lose, that they retire him.
cooperlola
That's better.[:)]2 winners, 2 places and BB still unbeaten (nice mare just behind him, wasn't she? - wouldn't mind one of her babies!) A much cleaner day all around.I too hope Kauto wins and as you say, bows out gracefully but the race isn't the same for me without Denman. I shall probably back Weird Al for a place (so he'll fall at the first then[:D].)
Gardian
Coops .............If you had the funds (I'm sure that you have, you just don't choose to spend it!!), what sort of jumper would you own and which trainer / jockey would you put it with?BTW, for me it would be a 2m hurdler & King / Thornton. Nothing like seeing a good horse coming to the 2nd last with the jockey with a 'double handful'.
cooperlola
Hobbs/Johnson for me (the best jock on the planet in my book). I always get very soppy about the long distance hurdlers - did you ever see such a fabulous looking horse as BB in your life? - but on balance I guess I'd bid for Overturn. Fun all year round and I love a front runner who wears his heart on his sleeve.Nowhere near enough money! I paid £350 and £500 respectively for my two (and that was before I was a pensioner.) cooperlola
Good luck, Kauto.Hope everybody comes back safely. (Just been very entertained to hear Nicky Henderson talking about teaching Long Run English! Made me smile.)
Gardian
Well, it wasn't to be, but I'm glad that RW pulled him up before anything awful happened. In his prime (and uninjured) Kauto would have won pulling up - I rather feel that this was a below-par Gold Cup.A good four days, but not one of the best eh?I'm glad that I couldn't have a punt - wouldn't have got anywhere near! cooperlola
No, not a vintage Cheltenham. Yesterday was by far the best day as far as I am concerned, as is so often the case for me. Great Ryanair, great BB win. I always find the new Friday a bit of a let down since there are no steeplechaces before the GC, and the coverage for those like me without a paid-for channel ends with the amateur race, mostly with horses I don't really know well.Punting wise, Tom Scu and the Giant Bolster got me out of jail. I budgeted 25€ and ended up with 31! The last of the big betters.[:D]
Rabbie
In his prime (and uninjured) Kauto would have won pulling up - I rather feel that this was a below-par Gold Cup.
Possibly but Long Run was well below his best and on last year's form would have made a close race with KS at his best. At least he was pulled up before anything too nasty occurred. Not the best Cheltenham by any means though Sprinter Sacre looks to be a great horse in the making. Looking forward to seeing him next year.
