And influence people [I]

Well, in the grand slams they play 5 not 3 sets and if they put more bums on seats then why not? Seems logic to me, equal work = equal pay. [8-|]

PLUS! The mens games are a dammed sight quieter than the screemin females [:-))]

For once, I agree.

The men's game is much more "visible".  You ask non-tennis fans to name a famous male player or even to put a name to a photo of a male player and they will be able to recognise either the names and/or faces of at least Federer, Nadal, Djokovich, Murray.

Ask them about female players and they will certainly know Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova but have a problem sorting out the Azarenkas, the Radwanskas, the Kvitovas.

Me, I can reel off the names of probably the 10 ranked men and women without hesitation but then, I am a bit of a tennis enthusiast!  And I do most definitely prefer watching the men's game.
You're not quite right there, Mint. As someone who has no interest at all in tennis the only name I could come up with spontaneously would be Serena Williams. I know she has a sister though.
LOL, Hoddy, no good giving you "sport" on Eggheads then![:D]

Er........you do watch Eggheads?

The thing is Loiseau I’m not very good at famous people. I love to watch horses particularly show jumping either live or on TV.

A few years ago at the Christmas Show at Olympia I had the good fortune to be invited behind the scenes by some friends where we were introduced to a very famous member of a very famous show jumping family. Each rider has a little enclosure for their stables and their workers. I was having a look round when someone asked me if I would like to have my photograph taken with ‘him’. I said, “Yes please,” and went and stood by the horse. Embarrassment came slowly as I realised my friends were standing by the rider.

Mint -Yes, I do watch Eggheads sometimes. I want to be Judith when I grow up.

LOL! I almost added to my earlier post that I was only last night reminiscing with a friend about our mutual admiration for Pat Smythe, Harry Llewellyn, Wilf white, the d'Inzeo brothers etc... (Dating myself with that lot!)
