Iceni
We have noticed that along with leaf curl our peach tree is covered in ants. We have been told that there are things we can buy to stop the ants climbing up the trees and eventually ruining the peaches but then are told that the ants eventually get around them. Having just bought some ant powder as the little fiends were getting in through a first floor window frame (and also discovered that the little darlings bite) has anyone got any advice to help us get nice ripe ant free peaches or do we have to use 'death to ants' in powder form?Having removed all the other peach trees this year due to old age/death, we would like to get at least one edible peach from this tree which is big and healthy.ThanksDihttp://www.iceni-it.co.uk
Kazanton
Hi DiYummy! What kind of peach tree is it? Is it one of those lovely white peach trees? If so, I have something else to be jealous about... (second was the shower...) If you have ants, you most probably have aphids or greenfly. Peach leaf curl can be prevented. I use a lot of garlic barrier spray, works really well. It's also rather satisfying to blast aphids off with a pressure washer... (I do this to my roses and nastursiums... simple joys for me)Try these sites with organic solutions to ant/peach problems: http://www.organicpathways.co.nz/AnswerFile.cfm?QuestionID=78http://www.wildlifegardening.co.uk/mainindex.htm Belinda
