Stuart
My 72 year old aunt, a widower with no children, who has been living in France since 2005, would like to transfer the title of her house in France to me. I am the sole beneficiary under her Will and I am resident in the UK. Does anybody know what taxes would arise from a straight transfer of title transaction? I would greatly appreciate any advice in this respect. Kind regards Stuart
nomoss
You may find some relevant information herehttp://www.french-property.com/guides/france/finance-taxation/taxation/gifts-tax/real-estate/If you check the section on allowances you will see that the amount of tax you would have to pay depends on the value of the property as well as whether she has any surviving descendants. It seems you would also have to pay the taxes and Notary fees which would apply for a sale of the property.
