jem
Hi,here in sw dept 17 we've got the usual pomegranites, vines and figs but we've also got some bananas growing! We've done absolutely nothing to the palm but I'm wondering if we should be doing anything? Can you get companion planting for bananas?Do they require water/no water??I can't find anything in gardening books about growing bananas for their fruit.Anyone know anything about banana growing??Thankyou
gardengirl
I think the chances of them producing bananas are limited, they take a long time to grow and ripen, often the frosts get mine in November before the fruit is ripe. They prefer some moisture/heat, and can grow incredibly fast.
