David_Janet
Anyone know the French for escallonia? We are thinking of planting a hedge but can't find the name in any of our gardening books or dictionaries. Any other suggestions for a quick growing, evergreen hedge (NOT laurel or box) would be much appreciated. We are in the Tarn on the outskirts of a village called Soreze where we get an amazing wind called the vent d'Autan. It is a southerly wind and can howl for 2 or 3 days at up to 130 kilometres an hour. So the hedge will have to be something pretty robust!!Thanks in advance for any advice.Janet and David
