Alex H
Anyone recognise these ?http://www.alenda.freeserve.co.uk/house6_3.htmlhttp://www.alenda.freeserve.co.uk/house6_9.html
Christine Animal
The first one looks like a type of hibiscus. Are they the bushes you see a lot of around everywhere (we are in Poitou-Charentes). I have been wondering the exact name to be able to buy some. Russethouse
Pretty sure Christine is right about the first one, Hibiscus. At first glance Viburnum comes to mind for the second but if it creeps then possible not.....any other pictures? How big is it ? Is it deciduous or evergreen ? Iceni
I'd say the second is Boston Ivy (Virginia Creeper) or similar - do the leaves turn bright red in the autumn (the ones around here are already bright red due to the lack of rain this year). It is raining now - Yippeeeeeeeee
Alex H
GaySize of plant herehttp://www.alenda.freeserve.co.uk/house_first_1.htmlIt appears to be deciduous, as if you look at the picture herehttp://www.alenda.freeserve.co.uk/index.htmlit has almost vanished and that was taken in DecemberDiThe creeper photo was taken a week ago - we don't live there (unfortunately), so haven't been in the Autumn as yet
Ty Korrigan
Hello, Its back to my old Horticultural college notes for this because I am not aware that Parthenocissus tricuspidata or any of its cultivars produce berries...the clue is in the latin 'tricuspidata'It could be a joke...? Like the time some fellow glued 3 colours of flower to the same stem to fool Alan Titchmarsh on telly!I don't know what it could be, sorry.Le Jardinier Anglais
Christine Animal
Isn't this it ?http://crdp.ac-besancon.fr/ressourc/flore/flore/especes/parthenocissus_quinquefolia.htmI had thought of Vigne Vierge, probably the same thing as Di meant, but the leaves weren't the same, here are the other two varieties with leaves more like a vine (yours being the first one) :http://crdp.ac-besancon.fr/ressourc/flore/flore/nom_com/vignes.htm
Ty Korrigan
Hello, does it produce berries on new or last years growth? I confess I have never noticed them before unless its because the birds have got there before. I even examined two customers vines today for signs of fruit and could find none, so I am wondering, when it is cut back every year in order to control it and therefore only has new growth in abundance if that is the reason for a lack of berries...? Alex H
ChristineYou seem to be right about the vine - here is a better picture, nearly identical to ourshttp://nature.jardin.free.fr/grimpante/ft_vitis.htmlAKA Virginia Creeper - well spotted Di ! Viv
This website shows the same picture and it's a Japanese creeper apparently. http://www.fairy-lamp.com/Webb/JapCreepPho1.jpg
