'Typically French' Seeds?

Hi

Someone in the UK just did me a small favour which they want me to repay by sending them a couple of packs of 'typically French' seeds; maybe a packet of flower seeds and one of vegetable.

I'm going to add a few saved "Potimarron" seeds I have (still unusual in UK, I think), but am pretty stumped otherwise, particularly on the flowers... I don't really 'do' flowers, as OH will tell you!

So can anyone think of 'typically French' vegetable or flower seeds?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hate to suggest this but French Beans seem to be "the" typical vegetable.  But if you are looking for something different rather than typical then salsify or scorzonera - but even these are available in the UK.  Or maybe even the white radish.

I don't do flowers so cannot help there.

Thanks both. Strangely, I find garlic among the easiest things to grow (cauliflowers, on the other hand....)

Went for a scorzonera & a leaf chicory in the end (after all, it's not as if I have to eat them!)

Thanks again for the help.

I always think chrysanthemums are typically French... [Www]

Note to anyone who isn't aware... that in France, chrysanthmums tend to be associated with cemetaries, the dead and particularly Toussaint on 1 November. Never never give a potted chrysanth to a French person as a thoughtful gift... [:-))]
