Gyn_Paul
Hi,I'm trying (with very little success) to grow Eucalyptus from seed which requires anything up to 2 months of 20-25C with high humidity, so - predictably - even with sterile compost and boiled water, the propagator is prone to mould. To prevent this, the seed company recommends treating with Cheshunt compound which according to my dictionary is copper sulphate and ammonium chloride. However, unlike Bourdelais mixture, I can't seem to find it on the shelves, and enquiries of the staff are greeted with blank looks or recommendations to use proprietry sprays with chemical formulae longer than my arm. What do you all use to prevent mould/damping off in propagators?p
Cassis
Make sure you use sterilised compost and containers and water with distilled water in the first place and it should be less of a problem.I've heard of people using Chamomile to prevent damping off.Pour boiled distilled water on four chamomile teabags andsteep fortwenty minutes, then pour the concentrate into a 5 litre sterilisedcontainer and top off with more boiled distilled water. Use this in asterilized spray bottle tomist seedlings. What sort of eucalyptus are you growing?Phil
