Mishtoon
Hi,Does anyone have any recommendations for a really good tree surgeon in the Lot-et-Garonne (47)? We have an enormous eucalyptus in our garden about 15 feet from the house which we want to take out ,but being so close to the house don't want it to end up on the roof when it's taken down! We love the tree but not the proximity to the house.Would appreciate knowing of any recommendations for a professional, registered business who could handle this type of work. The tree in question is very big!!Also, does anyone know if we have to gain permission to take out certain types of trees??Many thanks,
Deimos
When I have had trees cut down I’ve always asked the guy and always been told no need for permission as its my tree (the person I use is a registered, siret numbered, etc. person).I found my person by asking around, then somebody gave me a name of somebody who has retired, who gave me somebody else’s name, etc. I pay him by the hour when I have difficult trees to cut down (e.g. close to house, close to cables, etc.) When cutting down trees in confined spaces, close to house, etc. he seems to dismantle the tree from the top down in one or 2 meter sections. Thus there is no risk of it falling the wrong way.If you don’t get any suggestions for your area then maybe ask somebody else who has trees, etc. Somebody local will be cheaper (less travel). Also, ask the cost. I was introduced to somebody (legal, siret, insured, etc.) by the DDE when I had to have a load of Lellandii (sic) that were overhanging the road cut back (and clear of telephone cables) and this person’s quote seemed very high. I then asked my usual person and it came in at half the price. Ian
Mishtoon
Hi Ian,Thanks for your reply. I am very nervous about getting it cut down as it is so close to the house and want to 'get someone who knows what they are doing'. And someone who has insurance in case it does all go horribly wrong. I think I might ask around and get several quotes, I'm sure they will vary considerably. It's a shame as it's a beautiful tree but there you go.Thanks again,Melanie
