Sunshine
HiNot being a fruit tree specialist I am a little stumped by something on the leaves on one of my fruit trees.About half or more of the leaves of a fruit tree ( possibly cherry) has 5 to 10 small darkish red cones sitting on each leaf. I tried to remove one but it appeared to be part of the leaf. ie I can not remove them without part of the leaf. When I looked inside the cone there seemed to be little seeds inside and not a grub.I can not find this problem in my gardening books. Can someone put me out of my misery, as I have not unpacked my insecticide spray's etc yet I am concerned I may loose the fruit. This job is number 501 on my urgent list to do!. Pixietoadstool
It sounds like a gall - which would be made by a gall wasp. The little seeds will be the eggs waiting to hatch.Valerie
Sunshine
Thank you for the information. never heard of gall, is this the name for the blight. I do have a lot of different fruit trees but they are not affected. What do I do with them? .... Spray?
