seb47
Has anyone experimented with pruning melons ( stopping or not after the 4th node). My charentais melons are going great guns - crawling all over the place, and I've been restricting their watering to once or twice a week direct to the roots - apart from last weeks storms. I'd be interested to know how other gardeners go from here. Some American research that I found on Google suggests there is no difference to the crop long term using different pruning methods. Thanks, Sue.
Iceni
We don't prune unless/until the tentacles get in the way of other crops. Probably means that we get more but smaller melons but we don't mind.Johnnot
Tony F Dordogne
I'm growing melons up frames/wires following something I saw at Wisley a couple of years ago.Haven't pinched anything out yet, letting them go on a bit too long probably but like John and Di, looking for two person smaller melons rather than larger/have to keep the other bit in the fridge size.
