Russethouse
We are just about to install a small water feature into a raised bed. Its one of those with a reservoir, steel grid and a piece of stone on top - thats fine, the electrician is coming to wire it in (a legal requirement now in the UK)The question is what level should the grid be at ? Should it stand slightly proud of the surrounding soil or be level with it ? (It will be covered with small cobbles when its finished)MOH is concerned about soil getting into the pump . Cassis
Have you got a picture of the feature, Gay?The pump itself should sit on a brick to keep it clear of the reservoirbottom - that will keep it clear of any soil that gets washed in fromthe surrounding area for one reason or another. Then it will not make a lot of difference whether the grid (and, more importantly, the lip of the reservoir) is level with or above the soil surface.
