MargaretD
Does anyone know if these spherical orange things are plums. We've had this tree in our garden for at least seven years, but I never realised it gave fruit (never been here at this time of year) They are about 1 inch in diameter. They tast a little like a plum, and have a small plum like stone in the middle, and I don't think they're poisonous as I haven't died yet! But I would like to know what they are as I can't find them anywhere on the internet
Rob Roy
Sound as though they might be Mirabelle, small plum like fruit that make lovely jam and also used for a plum type brandy [:D]
MargaretD
Thank you. Sadly, I've eaten my way through the couple of dozen that were on the tree. Not enough left for jam or far brandy! But, at least I know for next June.
Rob Roy
I've got loads on our trees this year, far more than ever before - but they are showing no sign of ripening yet [:(] You can buy Mirabelle jam in most supermarkets if you want to taste it.
