LaLavandiere
We have just created an enclosed courtyard (where our guests will eat breakfast) and when it warms up we need to populate it with plants in containers. I want some climbing plants, hanging baskets, wall hung containers and a profusion of colour and scent but I am aware that in an enclosed courtyard I will have created a rather hot climate. I have bought (in the UK) some water retaining gel to help them in the heat of summer and some time-release fertilizer. Now all I need to know is what type of plants I should be looking for. The courtyard is half in sun (morning sun) and half covered if that helps!I would also appreciate anyone telling me where I might buy a wall fountain that doesn't look as if it was made yesterday! I hope someone out there can help - many thanks.
londoneye
there is an on-line plant place www.plantes-et-jardins.comNot suggesting you necessarily buy from there although i have found them pretty good. But all of their plants have the regions in which they can be grown, and they also have a section of mediterranean plants, so you might get some nice ideas from their web site. cooperlola
Bourgonvilia (sp?) - I have seen it grown in large pots.
Pierre ZFP
Geraniums, pelagoniums and fushia. They all love the sun, hotter the better and great colour until first frost
Cassis
Pieris, phlomis and (as a rule of thumb) most plants with hairy or grey leaves. And succulents, of course. Phormiums are brilliant all year round in either containers or open ground and tolerate drought, heat and freezing cold.
