sueyh
Does anyone know if the yellow flowering Mimosa that grows in Spain will grow in Northern France. Am on holiday in the Valencia area and the Mimosa is in flower here and is beautiful, I would like to buy some to see if it will grown. Any suggestions in view of the fact that the temperature went down to -9 degrees in Pas de Calais in January.ThanksSuey[8-)]
Loiseau
My next-door neighbour here in London has a tall mimosa that is magnificently in flower, as I write. (Though obviously built-up areas provide sheltered conditions.)In the supposedly mild Vendee, we have lost several to frost at various times - though they seem to grow like weeds for all my neighbours there...So I would say, give it a try. But perhaps don't bring one back from sunny Spain - the Pas de Calais climate might be too much of a shock for it! Better to buy it in the P de C, or in England.Angela
Blanche Neige
You could try the "quatre saisons" variety, I think they are supposed to be quite hardy.
Loiseau
Strangely, in the Vendee I seemed to lose those quicker than the normal ones! (Have given up on mimosas now!)Essentially, plant it in a sheltered spot.Angela
