seb47
Has anyone grown Zinnias? My seedlings have come up really strong and I'm wondering if I could plant them out under a cloche, for some early colour?
daisymay
I would try it. They are a lot stronger than you might think. The only reason that they are not so popular in Britain is that they really need warm weather to flower well. I have grown them for three years and the only problem i have had is slugs. Goo_Rat
I grew some for the 1st time last year, a variety called peppermint stick from baumaux- came up fantastic, very easy, long long flowering season, don't mine being dry, seemed happy in full sun and semi-full sun [:)] I would rate them along with cosmos and delias as "good easy doers!" in my poor chalky soil.I am growing a lot more this year!I recall that last year mine didn't get going until well after most other annuals, so perhaps not the best choice for early colour.
