Rsi chasing payment

Hello to all

After returning back to the UK after 9 years of living in France we received a French Demand for a RSI payment from a Justice office. As we were unaware of this and thought we where paid up according to our french accountants, we did have a bill for 2100 euros that we questioned and was told they would look into it. We felt we where over charged and never heard a thing and presumed it was a mistake. We asked our accountants to let RSI know of our UK address and never heard a thing from them for a year until yesterday. No chase ups nothing. What happens if we don't pay this bill. I have asked my accountant in France to look into this and try and resolve this. Could we make RSI a small payment if they where to accept. To be honest we don't have this money as France has taken what little money we did have in taxes, RSI ect... Can they chase for the money in the UK. We now have an extra 400 euros in interest also.

Any help would be appreciated

Kind regards

Paolo

It is not unheard of for the debt to be sold to a UK company. Certain loan and credit card companies do this for those leaving debts in the UK except they sell it to a French company. It will depend on the value of the debt and what chances the company that considers buying it feel they have in getting the money from you.
