What are the birds that seem to be singing in the garden and surrounding trees all night? Anyone got any idea please?

Nightingales Tag, lovely isn't it !  I asked the same question this time last year and we've got them again now.

I've always been away at this time of year so have missed them. What a treat. As you can see from the timing of this message, I am listening to them late.

Ask a French person and they'd "what birds that sing at night?".

I live in the Limousin and have the pleasure of having nightingales in my garden from early april onwards.  I started to carry out a survey amongst the locals to see if any of them knew which bird it was (I only wanted to know the French name).  I got the same response every time.  It just goes to show that the rurals inhabitants must sleep very well!
