tonshun
I'm lucky enough to have a well and a small stream/river across my land - it is slow moving but clear water (not stagnant at all). Having read so much about nitrates etc in the soil i am now wondering whether it is better to use my well water to water my fruit/veg or use water from the river? I obviously want the option with the least health risks (if any exist). Maybe its as broad as it is long, but i'd be interested in hearing anyone elses views on this. Thanks in advance. Pierre ZFP
You want to water your plants with whatever has the MOST nitrates. Afterall, it's free fertilizer supplied by run-off from local farmer's fields.
tonshun
Fair comment!! Having re-read my post i agree but I should have said my concerns are about pollution levels in well or river water and whether its ok to use it on vegetables/salad items/fruits etc which need a lot of water to grow. Originally the well was used for drinking water but that was about 35 years ago when pollution levels/pesticides were lower.
