Peterm
The previous owner of our house in Manche has installed a system whereby ground water can be pumped up to serve a small garden pond and also supply a buried network of pipes leading to sprinklers in the paddock behind the house. Unfortunately he took the pump with him when he moved and I neglected to ask what type it was. We've plumbed the depth and there's three metres from ground level to the surface of the water; there's about five meters depth of water. The pipe diameter is about 4 cm.Can anyone advise what size of pump we'd need, please, and where we might find it in France? Peter
Patf
Look on the website http://www.Garantia.fr They sell pumping systems in kit form including electric pumps. They also have an old fashoned hand pump - pompe a main - for 150euros.
AnOther
I have a similar situation but fortunately I bought the pump from the seller !Unfortunately I'm in UK at present so can't tell you anything about my pump except that it's quite small yet powerful enough to lift around an 8m head of water through 30m of 3 or 4cm hose and still with enough pressure to run my pressure washer, €65 well spent !In the mean time you might find this site useful http://www.pumpexpress.co.uk if you tell them your requirements they will advise.Mine is something along these lines http://www.pumpexpress.co.uk/ped_jsw2_desc.htmOne word of caution, stay clear of the cheaper submersibles which often fail miserably to deliver, e.g. http://tinyurl.com/3dyj7v
f1steveuk
I would have thought any "sump" pump would do, as these are "short pull/long push" and can raise the water easily, as opposed to a surface pump which are obviously the opposite!
Gluestick
If you look at these two threads Peterm (which are connected) you will find a welter of stuff about pumps to do precisely what you want!http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/934304/ShowPost.aspxhttp://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/933761/ShowPost.aspx
Peterm
Very many thanks to all of you for your helpful posts. We're going over to our house this weekend, and I will look at the thing and ponder further...Peter
