Patf
Yes it's tilleul - ie lime or linden. The blossoms in early summer have a wonderful perfume. We have one, it's a beautiful tree.
Pierre ZFP
A beautiful tree yes but don't park your car under it. It drips a sap that is next to impossible to get off.

londoneye
... and if possible don't let it get tooooooooo big. Ours took two separate lightening hits last summer which made a complete mess of it, and as everyone has said, it is a gorgeous tree. Ended up getting it professionally lopped to a height where we can manage it ourselves in future. Currently its not very beautiful, but they do grow back fast (we have had over half a metre of growth in a few months - not the trunk of course!), so if it is huge and exposed and/or near a building you might want to think of getting it cut a little (or a lot in our case).
