CeeJay
This year is the first time I have grown cornichons, which I understand are very small gherkins. I have two problems with these cornichons and the first is why cannot they be a different colour than green, because if you miss them they grow to about a foot within a few days. The other is why do my cornichons taste like small gherkins i.e. rather soft in the inside, instead of the bottles ones like Maille which are nice and crunchy. Clair
Sorry for asking Ceejay, but I'm not sure I understand the distinction you make between gherkins and cornichons. I always thought they were the same thing...Here is a recipe in French with pictures: cornichons au vinaigre
Patf
I think the pickling process results in the gherkins becoming crunchy, if you do it right.
Ian
Are cornichons one of those foods that are liked more by one sex than t'other? There are loads of cornichon loving men - but not soooo many women....or am I talking rubbish?
