plod
Having written the title I find myself musing over the correct spellings - anyway, am I right in thinking that tomatoes are not a good idea to plant where we had potatos last year? Pads
I think only if the potatoes had blight, as it would be passed on other wise I dont think it would hurt.
Gemini_man
Both potatoes and tomatoes can suffer from Colorado Beetle so it's not really advisable to plant tomatoes after potatoes as the beetles overwinter in the soil.
Danny
Yes, they are of the same 'family' so you should avoid planting them in the same place two years in a row. We had colorado beetle on our potatoes and my neighbour's aubergines one year and it was a real pain picking them all off each day. On the up side, they are very pretty, like flying humbugs! They stuck to our potatoes and didn't touch my tomatoes, thankfully. After potatoes, try and plant something that likes a deep soil, eg, carrots or parsnips. Not aubergines, though, treat them like tomatoes or potatoes.Jane
