Dwarf Runner Beans ?

This year I am growing some vegetables in pots and am trying some beans called Hestia - they are not supposed to need supporting, but they look fairly leggy to me...has anyone else tried them, or anything similar ?

Hello RH we grew dwarf runners last year, they would be ok for a pot without staking as long as it is pretty sheltered. They are good cropers and loads for the freezer.

On a totally frivolous note, is it not a bit non PC to use the word 'dwarf' for these poor beans.Could one not say reduced stature or miniature or something similar. After all, they have feelings too...[6]

Longitudinally challenged runner beans? [:D]

Problem with growing vegetables in a pot is the watering.  Round here, with this heat, I'm watering rather a lot (I do have a well, which has not yet dried up).

The rest of my garden is covered with gravel and a weed supressing membrane, it's a small garden and I'm not that keen on looking at a veg plot, year round, but we keep the veg pots near the house so watering is easy.
