Jim
I have been unable to buy some vanities of junipers and cotoneasters from my local garden centres in Cahors.Does anyone know of any companies where you can order plants “on line” for delivery in the Lot. Iceni
Personal experience has been dire. Dead expensive corms of specialist begonias. Replacements that require totally different conditions which we do not have. Delivery timed for 'normal planting', we have had roses 'heeled in' for 2 years due to flooded land - they seem happy. If you want seed for specialist veg - great - no problems but the major suppliers of live plants by post are dire.Ah yes, this year I wanted a display of one type of pelagonum (geraniums). They sent two distinct and clashing varieties. You don't know till they flower. They all have the same name on.Best buy ever - Leclerc. We are very high so a bad winter takes off the lavender. The longest flowering and cheapest lavender comes from the supermarket. We have found local suppliers of exotics by finding growers who have their own shops.By the way, be warned. Small pretty bamboo in the UK is a 12 foot and growing monster here. 50p salix tortuosa (twisted willow) which refused to grow in the UK - hence price, a beautiful tree here.We are 1500 foot up so our conditions are not your conditions - brambles grow well... Even raised beds flood up here. Smallest shallots ever seen.Really Di
Russethouse
The first garden I ever had was fashioned mainly with plants from 'Bees' - they arrived when I was away and frankly looked like a lot of used straws when I planted them, but came on very well - not all mail order is dire.
