Mr Coeur de Lion
Back in Oz, I used to pop down to my local timber yard, and pick up a trailer full of bark chips for the garden for about $15 a load. Was hoping to do the same in France. Found a yard, but the way they strip the wood ends up in a mulsh which isn't what we need. Now I know most hardware stores sell them in bags, but at €7 a bag, that is extremely expensive, plus we're looking at getting 2 or 3 m3. Has anyone any idea where we can buy these in bulk for a reasonable cost?

odile
careful though - fresh wood chips will somehow take nitrogen out of the soil - so they need to rest for about a year. I only got chips from a friend of mine who would guarantee that the chips were not from diseased trees either. Many chips are from pines and have an acid effect too.
