hakunamatata
Sadly I do not know which Mimosa I have but it was bought in the Spring and has now doubled in size however the leaves have turned brilliant yellow. I dont think it should look like this but never having grown one before I need advice. We are watering the plant nightly on our drip system and maybe it is not happy with nightly watering. Any advice would be welcomed as I do not want to lose the tree.
NormanH
I believe that round here mimosa is often found wild in the vineyards which suggests that it can stand not a lot of waterI read"You should normally plant the tree in direct sunlight. Heat is one ofthe factors which are appreciated by this plant. After you haveinitially established your tree you should only water it during thoseperiods of extreme dry spells. The mimosa tree is extremely tolerant ofdrought and survives well in alkaline soils. Normal rainfall issufficient to water the plant and thus no additional attention to wateris usually necessary."on this site
hakunamatata
Hi Norman, I read that as well but I have also read this afternoon that there is a fungal disease of mimosas, I think its called Mimosa Wilt where the leaves turn yellow, drop off, the trunk "bleeds" frothy substance and the tree eventually dies - sounds awful and I hope its not the case with mine, but I will soldier on and stop the supply of water although we are "suffering "36 + and have been for the last two months.
