valB
I bought a bag of onions to plant last October/November but I have only just been able to start turning over the veggie plot. Should I plant these or should I buy a new bag due to different types for times of the year. Also, Can I assume it is too late to plant Garlic ? We were away for a lot longer at Xmas due to a car crash in UK so all my digging and planting went out of the window.
thunderhorse
As long as they haven't gone off, I'd get them planted. Nothing spoiling.
dragonrouge
Garlic is conventionally planted on the shortest day and harvested around the longest day. That is of course and according to the French if the moon is with you.
cheminot
Put the garlic in the fridge for a few days before planting. This is to 'fool it' into thinking (if vegetables can be said to think!) that it has been planted in winter. The onions should grow OK as long as they are still firm.cheminot
valB
We put the Onions in and a couple of shoots popping through already. Thanks for the replies.
