woolybanana
There are some delightful single, pink, wild roses in a hedgerow on a farm path close to here which would make lovely border plants or climbers. Can someone tell me when to take cuttings please and whether to take new wood or old wood ones?
Patf
Not sure about when to take cuttings, but remember that the flowering period of a wild rose is very short. They do produce bright rosehips in the autumn though. There are many other roses that keep flowering throughout the summer. (Not free though!) Steph1
I have tried to take rose cuttings from both old and new wood and failed miserably. I would also be very grateful for any tips.
Pads
Lay a long arm of the wildrose on the ground( open soil) and pin it down after a while it will take root and you can then cut it off the old plant and dig up and replant
