Dodger253
I am looking to build some raised beds and wish to purchased pressure treated timber to construct them from. Any ideas where I can purchase such timber?
Joe
I used some decking planks from Mr Bricolage.

cassis
People do sell sleepers e.g. http://www.toutypasse.com/ but I'd be wary of bitumen/creosote content.A poster in Claire's link suggests searching for "traversée de chemin de fer". Don't, he can't spell. Instead search forTraverse de chemin de ferYou can buy new, untreated sleepers in oak but they are a fortune.I used decking planks, like Joe. CeeJay
Cheap 150 x 25 treated planks from BricoDepot
cassis
I also considered the "yellow" treated planks as they were about 30% cheaper than the same width and thickness decking planks at Brico Depot; I was put off by the fact they're only treated for use in carpentry (roofing etc) and not meant for damp conditions. They're definitely an alternative to decking planks but my thought was they won't last as long. I can only vouch that the decking planks are as new after 6 years, with absolutely no rot. CeeJay - I've been thinking of doing more raised beds, do the yellow planks last okay in contact with soil? If they do I'll happily save 30%! AnOther
Hello stranger !I built some raised beds last year using decking boards but also lined them inside with DPC plastic sheeting. The boards came from a local reclaim yard so were considerably cheaper than the Brico sheds.Ernie

mik
I use car tyres. They are free, durable and no maintenance. Garages have to pay to dispose of them so are happy to give them away. They enclose the raised bed but can individually contain plants and herbs, especially those that spread or need special soil or watering conditions. This is one under construction
CeeJay
CassisI have had mine now for about 4 years, I expect them to last for about another 4years, so after 8 years I think I have had value for money and they will be very easily replaced.
