Tree surgeon / expert in Dordogne

We have bought a property with an ancient Lime /Tilia that dates back to 1848 (it has a gorgeous moss encrusted stone with the date carved in, at its base) It has been pollarded and is not in great shape. I want to get a real expert in to pollard it this year. Could anyone recommend a professional tree surgeon in the area? We live 20 minutes north of Sarlat. Thanks.

We don't know anyone in your area but you might like to try our method to find one:

visit a couple of the most impressive chateaux in your region and ask who they use to care for their trees. We found a very professional craftsman that way.

Many thanks for the suggestion, Colin. I've mailed the company that Nectarine recommend and will see what they come up with. But your idea is a good one - we have the Manor of Eyrignac close to us and I could ask them for advice.

We too are somewhat north of Sarlat (about an hour) and used Roots and Shoots last autumn. They were very professional. As we were not there at the time they sent photographs of the work they did.[:)]

Thanks Richard. I mailed Roots and Shoots - got a nice letter back, but they said we are out of their travel region. I'll give them a call now that I have read your message.
