Angie
Can anyone tell me what these little (and I mean really tiny) red insects are? They have absolutely covered our terrace and terracotta walls which are in full sun all day. There are literally thousands of them. They don't bite (at least not yet!) and they are too tiny to be causing any harm but just wondered what they were as we haven't had them before. They completely disappear once the weather cools down. Never seen them in the UK. Thanks all
nectarine
perhaps they are tiny red spider mites? Very very small, our walls and terraces are covered in them. Not sure if they bite ... I have never been bitter (yet) but they do get on everything!
Rabbie
I agree. Red spider mites was my first thought when I read the first post. We do have them on our patio in the UK especially on warm sunny days. Some people call them money spiders. A photo would confirm the identification
Patf
Mary W - what dept. do you live in? It's relevant to gardening and wildlife problems.
Angie
Yes, this does sound like what they are. I did initially think of red spider mite but the magnifide images on the internet made them look a lot scarier than they actually are! They haven't bitten any of us either and yes, they are in absolutely everything. Thank you
