The neatest guests

Recommended Posts

I for one am thoroughly impressed with how neatly the French leave our rooms. Is it just us, or are the French always so neat?

We'd a French family of 27 staying for réveillon that were so good in leaving the sheets and towels folded up that we were able to go through the place tidying up in less time than we normally take for even two or three rooms of people staying!

At the other end of the scale are the Columbians who took a good two hours cleaning up afterwards vs our target of 20-30 minutes.

Hi Arnold,

Without hesitation, I would say the French are the best behaved guests. They appreciate having clean rooms/bathroom etc and respect the effort we make.

The dirtiest we've had (not had colombians) have in general been the British. The bathroom is often a mess after they've gone, shaving cream and toothpaste spread everywhere, wet floor, dirt trodden into the carpets.

I could well justify asking the same price in pounds as we ask in euros, just to make up for the extra time it takes to clear up.

I'd agree with that Ian - French being good that is, and Brits being bad.  In particular, although I'm from the home counties myself, I have to say that generally, northerners leave the place more tidy than southerners - and it seems to follow the more money they appear to have, the worse the state of the room (perhaps they're not used to clearing up after themselves!)  Can anyone explain just how you do get toothpaste, not spatters but great big globules, all over the mirror, tiles and sink.  Do they have a fight with the tube every morning?

Having said all that, there is always the exception that proves the rule and the couple we had from Watford last week left the room immaculate each morning when they went out and stripped the bed and even brought the linen and towels down to us on the morning of their departure!!  They can come again!
