One way van hire from the UK to France

Does anyone know of any companies that do self drive one way van hire?

Nobody has ever found one.

Some years ago I worked through the major van hire companies in Calais and non of them offered one way van hire even in France.

Think about it Gemma,

which hire company is going to want a right hand drive van deposited at an office in the middle of left hand drive Europe?  What a nightmare to get it back for its MOT!!

I have found a few companies that will do it providing you can drive the van back to Calais which is pointless.  Looks like removal company it is then!

Depending on where you are going you might be able to strike a deal with one of the local Brittish residents to take a van back for you if they need to go back to UK. Alternatively if you are young and fit, cheap flight to France, pick up van, drive back to UK load and drive down can be finacially viable

Sorry about that Gemma but as a new memebr you probably don't realise that this question comes up four or five times a year - hence the quick but sadly negative responses.  The reason I posted was in the hope that the next person with the same need will use the search engine and see the reasons why they are not available and will realise nothing has changed.  This will avoid raised expectations.

You mentioned that you had found firms who would take a return back in Calais and while this does not help you - or me for that matter - it may be of use to others - especially those in Northern France.  Perhaps you could post the names of the firms for the benefit of other members.
