Wilko
HiFor the past 6-7 weeks we have been receiving inquiries for holidays at the rate of around 4-8 per day. Howvere since 30/3/06 we have received nothing at all. Seems peculiar. Traffic through the site has remained constant for the period. I have sent requests to ourselves via another email address and everything seems to be working. Has anyone else experienced this sudden fall off requests since 30th March? or do I have a technical problem that is not immeadiately apparent? Be grateful for any feedback on this problem.Rgds Wilko
Quillan
School holidays started today in the UK so that might have something to do with it.
Wilko
Hi QuillanThanks for that, but only 22% of laat years bookings were from the UK.Rgds Wilko
Miki
Personally, we have for many years had periods where we will get manyenquiries, this may go on for while and then be followed by a period ofslowness, even nil enquiries on certain days.Saturdays can tend to be quiet on occasion for us. People in officesdefinitely use the phones, so that may account for a few more calls inthe week.We have often looked for reasons why we are getting less enquiries thanat other times, emails for us are certainly more regular but still wecan have days with just a couple or in low season, perhaps none. We alsohave a larger percentage of French requests and reservations, as against any othernationalities and we sometimes put it down simply to the weather, thetime of year and just about anything to be honest. If there is nothing wrong with your website, then I would thinkenquiries should start again soon and when you are full, you will bewishing they stopped !! Probably like many others places, thepeak periods have gone and for instance, for a while now this Easter wehave been offering potential guests, the contact numbers etc of otherB&B's in the locality. I would worry if your peaks are stillavailable within a week or so of those periods. Where are you exactly ?
Wilko
Hi MikiThanks for that. We are in Provence, www.maspomona.com I take your points on board but what really confuses me is that the traffic through the site has remained constant throughout this slow period ie lots of people are still looking at the site.RgdsWilko
Miki
Now that is a gorgeous house by any standard. We once had a place in Manosque, and often thought to buy again near Pierrevert, so we know the area quite well.Although being quite a bit more expense than the normal type of C d H,I can well see why you are and if you are receiving bookings all thetime, then that cannot be the reason. Slow enquiries are probably justa blip, the web site took a little time to peruse, the net may justhave been slow whilst I was looking but that was all.Good luck and if you ever want to swap places, don't hesitate to ask. Wilko
Hi Beryl & MikiThank you for your kind words.Beryl we are a B&B, not a gite, but would be very pleased to receive either your goodself or your friends at Mas Pomona. Where abouts are you?Miki, how could you move from Manosque to St Malo? At the moment we have 24 degrees, blue sky and a gentle breeze, perfect and hopefullly another 6-7 months of the same ahead of us. I trust that you both have good seasons and if either of you are in the area a glass or two of rose slips down a treat on a day like today.Best wishesWilko

Miki
Miki, how could you move from Manosque to St Malo?Oh don't ask !! We wish now that we had managed to hold on to our place there but.......We didn't move in one jump up here, we bought a place in the Dordognefirst and stayed there from 1995 until 1999. By then the kids were into their teenage years and it was like living in the Village des Morts, nothing happened between late Sept and late April/May and they werealwaysclimbing the walls ! The elder two kids were living in the UK andTina was missing them, so the choice was back to the UK or a compromiseand Brittany was the compromise. The area here really is beautiful but having had a holiday down souththis month, we both realised just how much one can miss those beautifuldays of azure blue skies, but there you go, we can always holiday inthe sunshine !How are you affected by the Mistral ? I know our friends and us used to be quite cheesed off with it after a couple of days !I wish you a great season as well and we will hopefully one day, takeyou up on that glass of Rosé one day. We often used to go to ourlocal cave in Pierrevert for their Rosé, it was delicious and on asunny day, even better !
phylisbide
Hi Wilko - I have also put your beautiful house onto Favourites - in case we ever get to the point of having a holiday in France rather than solely renovating our house in 24!! Ever hopeful that it will happen this year or next... meanwhile I hope you have a good season. J
