P
Contemplating buying a house from which we could do B&B - but only part time.We shall be taking early retirement and thought of offering B&B for only a couple of months - say July and August.Looking at previous posts it seems to us that we could be setup as a microbic. The idea of doing this is to give us a little extra money for perhaps an additional holiday etc.We are not that optimistic to assume that we would be 'full' for the whole of the two months (would contemplate accommodating 2 couples). Is what we are contemplating viable. Thanks in advance for ALL repliesPaul & Yve
Cassis
Even two months with two rooms would be tiring during that period. You'll definitely need that holiday afterwards! If you do it near another B&B whose main occupation it is then then they may not be very happy with you creaming off the peak period but I guess that would be their problem, not yours. Not sure what you mean by "viable". Can't see any practical reason why you shouldn't do it, if you have the energy, patience and are daft enough!
cookie1
Hello, We do exactly what you are contemplating doing, we take people in as B&B as and when we wish. We use no hard and fast rules as to what time of year and we are registered with our local tourist office. Depending where you buy your property in France, summer may not be the best time because of the heat. We normally let to one couple at a time but do offer two couples when requested as a group. It works well for us and we also enjoy the social side it brings us, we have met some very nice people who have since remained friends. If you would like any further advice or questions answering, do not hesitate to contact us.
