Owning Two Houses, Renting One

Sarnia

Recommended Posts

Hi there, this question may have been answered previously, so forgive me for asking again:

We want to buy property with a gite or two attached, but if we can't in the area we want, we wondered about the legalities of purchasing two properties, live in one and rent out the other as holiday accommodation or short/long term rentals?

Thanks for any help you might have on this.

I am not sure what 'legalities' you are worried about, its perfectly acceptable to live in one house and own another (or more) that you rent out! You will, of course, pay tax on the income and CGT (plus value) when you sell the rented house.
