Search facility and booking on line at GdF

Can I just point out for those who use this site that having tried to book a gite recently in the South , Aude etc and/or the Lande, how hard it was to get information or make an informed choice.  The bedroom choice on the search for example  starting at "more than one" is an indication of what is to come in booking on line, why not just one, two etc.  The site also requires a fair knowledge of the areas in advance to be able to book anywhere with confidence, like having to name the tourist area and nearest town, how would you know sitting in another part of France or UK and never having been to he area before?  The search facility for narrowing down choices like distance from beach, swimming, take pets  etc is non existant for both areas and sadly lacking compared with other sites.

As it was I ended up in a "secluded" cottage with "own drive" that was actually part of the owners house and shared the road with 6 other houses, all of which overlooked the property.

Being a member (although not with "gites") I thought I would have a look and although not the easiest site to surf, I found all the info and more, that I would need to know, easily to hand.

I went to the nearest town, then up "popped" all the gîtes in that area, most with plenty of info and details inside and out. I could have just as easily looked at all the gites in a wider area or indeed, the whole of Dept 11.

Did you use the French or English language to search with ? I used the French site and honestly found it all OK. Not the best or the simplest but I am surprised you could not find out quite easily how many bedrooms, how far from the beach, town, shops etc etc, it is all in there, albeit on the GdF individual front publicity page

As far as not knowing an area. We have always looked in a red Michelin map then narrowed things down even more, with the Michelin yellow series.
