bannie
Currently we charge for linen/towel hire €12 per person (€24 per couple) and they leave the cash for the caretakers. Our new caretakers are going to charge per item and this will amount to quite an increase - (more than double) in our costs that we couldn't pass on to visitors. We could get round it by just supplying bed linen and shower mat and ask visitors to supply their own towels - what do you think?
Suandpete
We supply bed linen, shower mat, loo mat and tea towels - but not towels either in the house or for the pool. We offer to provide them if people fly here but have only ever been taken up on that once in 5 years. Our clients don't seem to have any problem at all bringing their own towels - and we already have 12 weeks booked for 2009 so we must be doing something right.Edit: we don't charge extra for what we supply - we also provide a second set for the second week of two week stays. bannie
Trouble is, ours is a small town Gite usually rented by couples, sometime 2 couples and solidly booked the majority of the year, so the costs for linen over a season would be disproportionate to rental income particularly during months of October to April. We include tea towels and shower mats etc anyway. Thanks Sue and Pete, think we'll do as you suggest and just explain to visitors - sure they'd rather bring their own towels than pay so much extra for their holiday! Callie
We supply all towels, mats and teatowels, but it is amazing that, in spite of saying very clearly that THESE ARE ALL PROVIDED AND INCLUDED IN THE PRICE, just how many people bring their own ! ! ! Owens88
Our ONLY add-on charge is for towels and bed linen (£7.50 pp) and that is because the mainland continetals like to bring their own and expect a lower price. The flights (Ryanair especially) discourage luggage at all at all so few brits/irish bring their own and we keep the price down as low as poss. Could you get your new caretakers to farm it out to somebody cheaper ? John
bannie
Have now sorted out 'linen' charges - think I misunderstood the way the charges worked, my mistake - worked out it was going to cost about €80 per person just for laundry! Thankfully all clarified and affordable now.
