When looking for holiday rentals what do you search?

Never having looked for a holiday rental on the net, I would be interested to know what keyword are the best to use.e.g Holiday rentals, self catering, holiday lets etc?

For the UK "holiday cottage rental" followed by the place; for France "gite louer "followed by the place.

Whether this is "best" or not I wouldn't know but it seems to work OK when I give my method a try.  I wouldn't use English search words (and I'd use Google France) to find French accommodation or I'd reckon I'd be restricting myself to Brit owned and/or marketed places.
