Andy & Ben
We are moving to France at the beginning of April to set up a branch of a general builders on the border of the Pyrenees Atlantiques/Landes area. The business is registered in England does anybody know what insurances we will need to be covered? The business will include brickwork, plastering, decorating, groundwork, land clearence and demolition. Do we need seperate insurances for the different aspects of the business or if one insurance can cover all? Thank you
Teamedup
You will need to set up a branch of your business in France. The cotisations employers in France have to pay are expensive. There have been posts recently about the insurance aspect of this.
Nick Trollope
Being registered in the UK does not giveyou the right to trade in France, as TU says. You will not get insurance without registration ( a SIRET number). Insurance for building trades is expensive (perhaps 4000€+ pa.), and you will be limited to the trades you declare to the insurers, for which you will be charged individually on a single policy, if you see what I mean. Also, you must (by law) have "assurance decennal" (10-year guarantee insurance), which in my experience, is nigh-on impossible to get.Speak to your local Chambre des Metiers, they will be able to help you with all this.
