Mpprh
HiI've got some notes on pools (including a link to the book I bought) here : http://www.the-languedoc-page.com/languedoc-living-pools.htmI'm looking after a few pools and haven't had algae problems for several years. Given our 40+C high temps that is a good result !A neighbours pool :This pool was abandoned for 2 weeks in July. The water was 32C.Peter
Poolguy
Yes is a good subject.Pool maintenanceI have use a particular book but its with a colleague a the moment and when he gives it back I'll be happy to give you the reference. In the meantime, you can get any number of titles most of which will give you the basics and a bit more besides. I just looked at Amazon:http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-form/202-9606610-9196606As far as pool controller is concerned. If your French is up to the mark check out:www.jepcontrol.comIf not then http://www.pool-controls.com.au/As far as people who have them installed in France, if you send me your details in a PM I will refer you to some pool owners. PeterPerhaps your neighbour needs some help in this direction as well. That pool looks nasty- hard work and a lot of expense to get it back to healthy state.Andrew

Baz
THE SWIMMING POOL AND ALLIED TRADES ASSOCIATION of the UK produce "The home owners swimming pool handbook" which I understand has very recently been updated and completely revised. The handbook costs £10 but if you know anyone who uses a member company they should be able to obtain a free copy. When I first had my pool this book was invaluable and has a lot of very useful information. For further information and order form look at the site below. I feel fairly certain that they will post to France.http://www.spata.co.uk/publications.htmlBaz

Le Presbytere
Also being a complete novice, I've been bought the 'The Ultimate Pool Maintenance Manual' by Terry Tamminen (£14.83 from Amazon.co.uk). It's quite a tome, but seems to be pretty much exhaustive and has a very good section on removing algae (which is my main problem!). I don't know much about auto chlorine, but having just come back from South Africa, ther they all seem to like the auto-dispensers that float around on the surface of the pool and last about a month. I've seen them in plenty of French supermarkets. They're also quite cheap.
