Kingdingaling
After reading the threads on in ground pools and being completely put off doing it myself we are now thinking of an above ground pool either completely in the ground or half.Anyone done this, is it a bad idea?Cheers in advance. Coco
A friend of ours has just done a really nice job on his. He built a block surround, put in the pool and then decked across the top of the blocks with steps up to the decking areas, so that the pool looks as though it is a standard pool set in the ground. It looks very nice and if I knew how to put photos on here I'd post a picture!

Wils
We inherited an above ground pool which had been put in below ground when we purchased our house some 6 years ago. It did good service for a few more years before due to liner problems we put in a solid one. Liners have a limited life and, when they need changing it can be a much more difficult job when the pool is in the ground, otherwise it's a good idea. Coco
Our friend has put a couple of access doors in the side of the blockwork so that he can get inside for maintenance etc.Ontherun, I'll try and email that photo later today. Only having dial-up it takes forever and I'm in the middle of a three room changeover with the B&B at the moment!
Macker
I put mine in a natural dip in the garden then decked around it. Very cheap with the additional advantage that I didn't have to apply to the Mairie for permission.
