Choc Chlorine after opening pool

Hi, We opened up our pool last Thursday, water was clear. We tested the PH and that was fine, no chlorine as expected. The pool holds 27 cubic metres of water so we added 14 choc tablets, checked again after they had dissolved, chlorine level still nil. We then added another 6 and after dissolving the reading is still nil. Any ideas on what we are doing wrong??.....and even to put it right!!

If you've choced the pool with Pastilles and you are sure that the

pastilles are freash (not last years) then there is 'masking chemicals

in your pool. Perhaps at some time in the past you added a product

which contained hydrogen peroxide. Brand names such as Reva top, oxygen

activ or the like... for if you do have perxide in the pool then you'll

not read any chlorine at all.
