nick16
I am having a new pool built [10 x 5m] over the winter, and the English installer has advised me of a system which reduces the needs for chemicals. It costs about 1500 euros to install, uses 1 amp of electricity, and the only maintenance involved is the annual replacement of the copper and silver diodes.I am told it does not require maintenance, and the pool can be left during the summer without maintenance so long as it is fully covered.Has anybody had any experience of the system or any comments? Poolguy
Copper is a very effective algeacide, silver is a very effectiveagainst bacteria, both are heavy metals, and also verilent poisons tohumans.Ionised copper has been around for year and never realy taken offbecause of the its inherant problems, poisoning bathers, not to mentionheavy metals plating out on the liner which makes ugly black spotsimpossible to remove. The Health Department (DDASS) have stopped just short of condemming itfor use in any pool or potable water installation. Certainly there isno norm for that system. In short, if you want to try it you will be gambling your health andthat of the other bathers, especially children and elderly, your poolwill never be clean and you will end up eventually changeing to achlorine based system, as a number of my clients have. One contractingirritable bowel syndrome which I suspect if not caused was irritated bythis system. Its up to you, I do not recommend it.Andrew
