chirpy
I have a Optipac 2 heater installed 6 years ago in new pool.I have managed to date to winterise and as directed by supplier of pool i.e. closed 2 valves for water that goes from pool V2 to heater and back via V3 to chlorinater and pool.I have disconnected both connection union fittings to drain this circuit and also the two connections outside pool equipment house where the hoses enter the heater. After water was drained I checked for any leaks by switching on the ciculation pump as I had also cleaned the chlorinater . Before reconnecting the 4 fittings above I found water was coming from the hose from the pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I.E. UP TOWARDS THE STOP GATE .-THE WATER STOPS WHEN I SWITCH OFF PUMP.Why can water be pumped when not connected to the pump circuit??I HAVE A DILEMA AS I NEED TO PUMP WATER DURING THE NIGHT AS FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE HERE NOW AND I DO NOT DRAIN ALL EQUIPMENT ETC.WILL I LOOSE WATER AND PUT SOME INTO HEATER WHICH THEN HAS A CHANCE TO BE FROZEN AND DAMAGED. HELP PLEASE.

chirpy
LOWEST POINT OF WATER HOSES IS 36 CM BELOW SKIMMER LEVEL OF POOL.The equipment is in concrete housing and heater outside of it.when connection joined again no water leaking now as taps in off posittion but i had noticed some water at the outside connections to heater and worried some water may enter here.Maybe a little water not completely drained from heater system? Poolguy
This will always be a problem when the Local technique is sited lowerthan water level; vis you cannot effectively drain all the pipes, aseven if the you drop the level in the pool below return prise then youstill have the Bond de font(bottom drain) pushing water pushing on thevalves. Mostly as this buried deep then it tends not to be a problem, but it it surfaces then you'll be fiting to keep it from freezing. SOif you've stopped the water at the valave line in front of thepump and opened the pump drain, filter drain and emptied the linesreturing to the pool then I cannot see that you will have anydifficulties. The Heat pump should be empty. If you need specific help then PM me with some pics and i'll try to help more.Andrew
