J.S.Bark
Just had a new preform pool put in and have recently discovered that there is a leak somewhere as the water level is diminishing by several centimeters per day. I spotted it before the tiles were laid so the company had one of the workmen dig to check the connections.I was assured that it wouldn't be a problem any further and they proceeded with the laying of the tiles. I marked the level with a pencil on the skimmerand have found that the leak is still there somewhere as the level is still going down at the same rate. Does anyone have any experience of this happening? Also, would any cracks in the pool be visible by the naked eye? Thanks
Poolguy
JS BarkYou don't say what type of pool construction you have; liner?, resin shell?, concrete and tiles?.Leaks could be in the skin or in the pipe work, bottom drain or anywhere. One sure method to determine the culprite is to do nothing. That is, wait till the leval sops going down, so it will be sure that the leak is just above the water line. So if it empties the pool entirely, then you have a leaking bottom drain and the start of a nightmare of huge proportions. If its a skimmer thats the most common and easiest to fix.Andrew
J.S.Bark
Hi poolguyThanks for the reply. It's a preformed resin shell. That is a good idea and one which I hadn't thought of. I'm hoping that once the water level has passed the skimmers it will stop.My partner and I have paid the majority of the cost of the pool but we are witholding the rest until the problem is sorted by the pool company. I'm expecting that the company will have all manner of devices to be able to detect the origin of theleak and then deal with it accordingly. If it is the bottom drain then surely it is the company's resonsibility to fix it.
