nick16
I have just had my pool opened. In order to get the pump working it was neccessary to bleed the sand filter unit. Everything works fine for 5/10 minutes and then air bubbles start blowing from one of the water return inlets. If I bleed the filter unit the bubbles receed but return after 5/10 minutes. I have also noticed that the suction on the suction inlet has been reduced. The unit is less than 2 years old. Any ideas would be very welcome. Théière
Hi Nick,I take it you have checked the obvious water level at the skimmer. It is most likely from your description that you are drawing air in from somewhere. My guess at this stage would be the "O" ring on the pump pre-filter. Turn off everything and valves where required, open the pre filter lid and romove the O ring. Clean the groove and the O ring and re-assemble, as you tighten the pre filter lid you should see a continuous black line appear as the lid compresses the O ring. Also check all your other fitting are tight.
nick16
Thank you Théière,Yes the water level is well above the skimmers. Excuse my ignorance, but is the 'pre filter lid' the transparent lid held on by 2 bolts, and where I can see water thrashing about when the pump is working normally?I'm back in the UK for a couple of weeks so I'm unable to do anything at present, but I am looking for ideas to rectify the problem on my return. Théière
That's the one, as it is the two bolt variety you can actually over tighten that type and bow the lid fractionally causing an air leak sometimes, worth a check.
